One of the final events of the inaugural Queenstown Bike Festival had a flying finish yesterday afternoon, as hundreds of spectators and several DJs gathered to watch competitors in the Corona Dirtmasters Downhill race career down the Brecon St Stairs.

The mountain bike race, which ran from the top of Ben Lomond, was won by Queenstown resident Reon Boe in a time of 5min 8sec, and of the 77 competitors the only injuries sustained were a few broken ribs.

Queenstown Times reporter Joe Dodgshun was there, among the music, mayhem and mountain biking.
