Lincoln University student Simon McLean, who serenaded Wakatipu residents and visitors, said his family could trace their roots to the McLeans of Duart, on the Isle of Mull, and he had been playing the pipes for eight years.
Mr McLean (20) said Flower of Scotland was among his favourites, though he was hoping the Queenstown crowd would come up with requests of their own.
He said he was looking forward to busking here again in the summer.
