Still Life with Colin's Flagon, potted Pansies and Tomato Seedlings (2013) appears in a new exhibition to be introduced in person by the artist, leading New Zealand photographer Fiona Pardington, in Arrowtown on Friday at 8pm.

Nadene Milne Gallery presents ''Fiona Pardington: Works From the Colin McCahon Residency 2013'', ''a selection of potent new still life photographs completed during the Colin McCahon residency where she focused on the synergies between her interests and McCahon's, in particular with his identification with the local landscape and flora, and the way he used simple objects as transcendental motifs,'' Ms Milne said.

Auckland-based Pardington will give an artist's talk followed by an open discussion in Dorothy Brown's Cinema next door to the gallery on Friday at 7pm.

People interested in attending were advised to contact the cinema to book a seat, as places were limited. A fee of $8 will be charged to cover cinema costs.

Pardington won the Arts Foundation Laureate Award in 2011 and has received many fellowships, residencies, awards and grants including the Moet & Chandon Fellow (France) in 1991-92, the Frances Hodgkins Fellow in 1996 and 1997 and the Ngai Tahu residency at Otago Polytechnic in 2006.

Pardington recently completed her Doctor of Fine Arts degree at Elam, School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland.
