Plenty of new faces will be seen around council tables in the South following yesterday's election results.
Five new councillors will be sitting around the Queenstown-Lakes District Council, following the surprise ousting of Wanaka ward councillors Leigh Overton and Jude Battson.
Newcomer Wanaka cinema owner Calum Macleod was the ward's most preferred candidate, 601 votes ahead of next favoured candidate, long-serving member Lyal Cocks. Six sitting councillors have been re-elected to the council.
The Central Otago District Council will also have a fresh look with six new councillors out of the nine, while at the Clutha District Council there will be little change with only two new councillors, Jo-anne Thomson in the Balclutha Ward and Selwyn Wilkinson, elected unopposed in the Bruce Ward, joining 12 incumbents around the council table.
At the Waitaki District Council unsuccessful mayoral challenger Cr Jim Hopkins returns to the council table as the Oamaru Ward's most preferred councillor.
There are five new faces among the nine councillors.
