A packed house of 61 Pink Ribbon Day supporters and movie fans, many wearing pink, raised $1575 towards the street appeal for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.

The sum was raised from the ticketed advanced screening of Eat Pray Love, at Dorothy Brown's Cinema, in Arrowtown, on Friday night.

Ticket sales, street collections and donations took the grand total for Pink Ribbon Day to almost $2000.

Business promotions would run for the rest of the month, organiser Julie Hughes said on Saturday.
