Milbrook Resort is readying its "sold out" signs for its seventh annual Millbrook Masters golf tournament, with 97 of the 100 places already filled, according to Millbrook director of golf Brian Spicer.
The social but highly competitive amateur tournament, which has sold out in advance most years past, is expected to attract players mainly from across New Zealand and Australia, to compete for a range of coveted trophies, daily prizes and draws worth more than $10,000.
The tournament format has two men's and two women's divisions: aged 35-55 and over 56 (with the men's over 56 split into two handicap tiers), with four stableford rounds played over five days, for handicaps ranging from single figures through to 36.
Mr Spicer said the 18-hole par-72 Millbrook course, designed by Sir Bob Charles, was "lush green and playing fast" because of the area's slightly wetter than usual summer.
