Top Wanaka snowboarders Juliane Bray and Will Jackways won the NZ Snowboarder banked slalom race at Treble Cone yesterday, storming to victory down the Saddle Basin's steep Superpipe run.

Bray, a three-time New Zealand Winter Olympic team representative, was followed home by fellow Wanaka snowboarder Abby Lockhart and Turangi rider Stephanie Takarangi.

Jackways edged Wanaka pair Nick Walker and Joram Makura to clinch his win, recording the fastest combined time after two runs down the Superpipe course.

Low cloud and flat light was a challenge for the 85-strong field of riders.

The annual event attracted a record field of competitors this year, organisers said.

Nick Bourke and Sam Hudson were the respective winners of the men and women's veteran categories.
