Lamb in the limelight

The quality cuts of Cardrona Merino Lamb have made their way to the dinner plates of some of New Zealand's finest dining establishments and the mountain-reared product is set to star on a new television cooking show about Central Otago food.

Hosted by Queenstown-based former All Black Grahame Thorne, Thorney's Cooking Central debuted on Sky's Food Channel last Sunday.

Episode two of the cooking show tomorrow evening will highlight the product of Cardrona Merino Lamb and how its distinct taste is winning over chefs and diners around the country.

Cardrona Merino spokesman Rob Ottrey said getting stories out there about the produce of Central Otago was essential for the region's artisan suppliers.

Thorne has turned his TV presenter skills to cooking and during the series he visits such locations as Naseby, Tarras, St Bathans, Bannockburn, and Cardrona.

Other Central produce to feature on future shows will be saffron, wild game and trout.
