Luxury hotels, a scenic flight, a boat cruise, a bungy jump and the vistas of Queenstown will be on national television when The Bachelor screens tonight.

Jason Mesnick, the man who has the task of choosing a potential wife from 25 hopefuls, spent almost a week in Queenstown last November with contestants Jill, Molly and Melissa.

Filming for the top-rated American reality television show's final two episodes was organised by Tourism New Zealand's international media programme and Destination Queenstown.

In the show, Mr Mesnick woos different women with a variety of romantic Queenstown activities.

The dates included a scenic helicopter ride with the Helicopter Line over the Southern Alps, Glenorchy and Lake Wakatipu to arrive at The Ledge, on Cecil Peak.

The couples took a lake cruise on the vintage 1936 wooden craft MV Yvalda and experienced a tandem bungy jump off the Kawarau bridge.

Filming took place at the exclusive Heritage Queens-town, on Fernhill Rd, Stone-ridge Estate, near Lake Hayes, Kohara Lodge, in Arthurs Point, and Matakauri Lodge, near Glenorchy.

Queenstown's role in the top-rated television show was watched by millions of viewers in the United States and helped boost the number of Americans visiting Destination Queenstown's website by 266.88% compared with the previous week.

Visits by Canadians also shot up by 221%.

Visits to Tourism New Zealand's website also increased from 3458 to 7277.

The first Queenstown episode screened in the US to an audience of 12.5 million and the second episode, also the season finale, attracted 17.5 million viewers.
