Minus 5 Ice Bar was transformed into Santa's Christmas grotto last month, to the benefit of Plunket.

Ms Ricketts said the contribution was "fantastic" and would most likely go towards revamping and tidying up the Plunket room's outside area, as well covering the cost of some new toys for the children.

Minus 5 operations manager Jason Whalley said he was glad to see hundreds of people visit the grotto and make a donation, with lines stretching out the door at times.

"Every day, more and more kids came and enjoyed it and hopefully next year we can do the same thing again, but bigger and better."
