British celebrity Heather Mills jetted into Queenstown yesterday afternoon to compete in the Winter Games.

The former wife of Sir Paul McCartney is a member of the British disabled ski team and is one of 750 athletes descending on Queenstown and Wanaka for the games, which start today.

Mills (45) was too tired to talk after a 36-hour flight.

The charity campaigner has a week to recover and enjoy the scenery before she competes in two World Cup-rated adaptive slalom events at Coronet Peak.

Mills, who lost part of her left leg in a road accident in 1993, is aiming to secure qualification for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. - Mountain Scene
