The Department of Conservation Wakatipu area office announced on Friday the work would involve building an extension to the accommodation area and upgrading the toilet facilities and warden's living quarters.
The hut will be unavailable for public use while work was scheduled, between May 16 and September 30.
Doc Wakatipu project manager Richard Struthers said the adjacent camping area and toilets would not be affected by the project.
