The Wakatipu High School golf squad is headed to the national secondary schools' tournament in September for the first time in 16 years.

The four pupils, Jamie Anstiss (17), Samson Kim (16), Edward Cochrane (16) and Sungwoo Han (15), won the Otago Intercollegiate tournament in March this year and qualified ahead of Otago Boys High School, which has been an outright winner for the past 15 years.

The national tournament will be held near Auckland in September at the Waipu golf course. The four pupils will also compete in the under-19 national tournament directly after.
