Tickets for the 92nd New Zealand Golf Open, being held at The Hills from January 28 to 31, are now on sale.
A Michael Hill-sponsored tournament was held in March this year after initially being held in November 2007, but will revert to a summer schedule in 2010.
Destination Queenstown chief executive Stephen Pahl said the past two Michael Hill New Zealand Opens had been fantastic events that had drawn thousands of visitors to the region, but with the change in schedule, there should be even bigger crowds.
"The next Open promises to be incredible, and being held at the end of January it will give domestic holidaymakers an exciting way to wind up their summer holidays in the region.
"Queenstown is fast becoming a golfers' paradise, with several world-class courses scattered about the resort.
The Open is a wonderful opportunity to showcase Queenstown as the premier lake and alpine resort destination to an international and national audience," he said.
The Open falls in the school holidays.
Mike Godinet, the sales and marketing manager for event organisers Tuohy and Associates, describes the new "Kids Go Free" policy as an exciting addition to the ticketing this year.
Children under 15 can attend the Open free with an accompanying full-paying adult.
