Hawea Flat Primary School supporters will officially launch their Timsfield Home Front project next week as part of an ambitious campaign to raise funds for the growing rural school.
Parents and supporters behind the Hawea Flat School Fundraising Trust aim to build and auction a house at Lake Hawea subdivision Timsfield.
Proceeds raised from the auction sale will go towards the establishment of a trust fund to help finance developments at the school which fall outside Ministry of Education funding guidelines, trust chairwoman Lindsey Schofield said.
"We've extended an open invitation to everyone in the Hawea community to come along and hear about our ambitious project and to register their support," Ms Schofield said.
The trustees are hoping to "inspire as many people as possible to get involved in some way", she said.
Local businesses, contractors and tradesmen have signed up to sponsor and support the house-building stage of the project, she said.
The Timsfield Home Front scheme is the first fundraising project being held by the charitable trust.
The objective is to build a "quality, new home utilising many donated goods and services", Ms Schofield said.
The fundraising trust's launch of the Home Front project will be held at the Lake Hawea Community Centre at 7.30pm on Tuesday, July 27.
