Alcohol was the main contributor to the majority of incidents dealt with by Wanaka police at the weekend, including an incident after two visitors in their 50s were evicted from a bar.
Senior Constable Ian Henderson said the police on Friday dealt with two intoxicated Wellington men who had been evicted from Shooters.
He said after being threatened, police handcuffed a 51-year-old man hand and foot and drove him to custody in Queenstown at 2am on Saturday.
The man appeared in the Queenstown District Court later that day charged with disorderly behaviour.
It is not known whether charges of threatening to kill police officers were laid.
The man's companion, also in his 50s, remained in custody overnight in Wanaka police cells to detoxify and was released on Saturday without charge.
Rugby club celebrations on Saturday were marred by the behaviour of two men.
One was charged.
Snr Const Henderson said one man had refused to leave the Bullock Bar at 11pm, when requested by bar staff, but left of his own volition when the police arrived.
An hour later, police were called back to deal with a second man, aged 31, who was eventually charged with trespass and assaulting a barman.
Three Wanaka teenagers survived, with minor injuries, a car crash that wrote off the vehicle in which they were travelling, after the 18-year-old driver apparently fell asleep at the wheel and hit trees beside Cardrona Valley Rd about 2.20am yesterday.
The driver has been charged with driving with a breath-alcohol level three times the under-20 limit of 150mcg, and careless driving.
