A service which allows visitors to Queenstown to spend a little extra time in the resort before their Air New Zealand flight is being trialled as a national first.
Initially provided only during the winter peak season, the national carrier is offering its passengers the convenience of checking in for their flight in downtown Queenstown, rather than at the airport.
With the Air New Zealand Queenstown Downtown Check-In, passengers can check in at least two hours before their flight, drop off their bags and then spend some extra time enjoying Queenstown before making their own way to the airport.
Domestic passengers need to be at Queenstown Airport 30 minutes before their flight. International passengers need to be at the airport 60 minutes before departing flights.
Passengers will not be able to access their checked-in luggage at the airport.
The service will operate until September 22, but if it proves popular it could become permanent and also be introduced around the country.
Opening hours are from 8am to noon, seven days a week, at 8 Church St, Queenstown.
