An interim director of the Queenstown Airport Corporation board is likely to be appointed this week.
Queenstown Lakes District mayor Vanessa van Uden told the Otago Daily Times a special general meeting of the shareholders would be held tomorrow and an interim director will be chosen at the end of the meeting.
The meeting would be attended by representatives of the Queenstown Lakes District Council, Auckland International Airport Ltd and the remaining airport corporation board members Murray Valentine, James Hadley and Allison Gerry.
The appointment is required after former chairman Mark Taylor was forced to resign by the council, following three public-excluded meetings in March and April.
Ms van Uden said the process to appoint a permanent replacement was "coming along slowly".
A job description would be written before the job was advertised.
Applicants would be short-listed and interviewed before an offer was made. That could take until August or September.
"I think the secret is we want to make sure we get the right person for the job," Ms van Uden said.
