A diesel spill and a collision between two trucks have disrupted traffic on the Glenorchy-Queenstown Rd today.
Senior Sergeant James Ure, of Dunedin, said 300 to 400 litres of diesel was spilled near Lookout Point about 11am after a container of the fuel overturned on a truck when it took evasive action to avoid another vehicle.
A grit truck was dispatched by the Queenstown Lakes District Council to deal with the spill, but on its return journey to the resort it collided with a fuel tanker on a narrow section of road.
Although the crash occurred at low speed, the road was blocked for about 50 minutes while a crane was brought to the scene to disentangle the two vehicles, Sen Sgt Ure said.
