Four months after the Kawarau and Hilton Hotels opened, Queenstown Water Taxis Ltd is going from strength to strength on the back of increased patronage.

Launched in 2008, Queenstown Water Taxis initially ran charters and a morning and after-work service between Frankton Marina and Queenstown Bay.

It now operates 10 return trips to the Kawarau Village each day, as well as non-scheduled charters, and awareness of the business was growing, spokesman Duncan Storrier said.

"I think the people of Queenstown are enjoying having a scheduled service they can rely on and we are continuing to work with the Hilton, who are getting more people over there, I understand," Mr Storrier said.

Director Neville Kelly said there had also been increased use of the taxis by Frankton Arm residents.

"The more people on using the service, the more likely it is that it will be able to continue."
