The event Ticket to Hope is staged this weekend by the organisation Cure Kids, which is giving the group of children from across the country and their caregivers an adventure-packed all-expenses-paid weekend.
From the time they arrive in town this Friday, they will be well looked after and entertained by local companies.
They will ride the gondola and luge at Skyline, see bungy jumps, spend an afternoon in the snow at Coronet Peak, ride golf carts at The Hills golf course, play mini golf at Caddy Shack and go jet-boating with Kawarau Jet.
On Friday evening, there will be a welcome party and dinner at Mercure Hotel, where they will be staying, and after dinner on Saturday a video evening has been arranged.
As special guests, two television personalities from the Shortland Street series, Renato Bartolomei who played Dr Craig Valentine and Angela Bloomfield who plays Rachel McKenna, will join the children for the weekend and be involved in all their activities.
The group will also be joined by 11 adults from some of the companies supporting Cure Kids.
These individuals have been chosen by their peers for their outstanding fundraising activities for the organisation.
Cure Kids regional manager Josie Spillane said it will be a holiday-of-a-lifetime experience for everyone involved, especially the children.
"It is a fantastic chance for the children and their parents to leave their hospital treatments behind for a weekend and throw themselves into the action-packed programme. It's a chance for them to live in the moment, even if it is for a few precious days and enjoy not being different from other kids," she said.
