Novotel Queenstown Lakeside restaurant and bar manager Ms Caron, originally of Canada, and receptionist Ms Knafl, originally of Austria, crossed the finish line at Mission Bay at 4.30pm on Sunday, elated and exhausted, after placing 12th out of 17 pairs in the contest.
The location and nature of each challenge was kept secret until participants began each leg of their journey.
At Hunterville, Ms Knafl drew the short straw on eating the huhu grub confection, while Ms Caron, competing for the second consecutive year, had to fish a toy car out of stale water with her teeth, while wearing an animal hide.
The pair set out in a convoy from Queenstown to Christchurch on Friday, then flew to Wellington and hitchhiked through Taupo and Rotorua on the way to Auckland.
"I think they were the most exciting days I've had since I arrived in Queenstown.
"We had a lot of fun and to finally meet some of the kids was very difficult but very touching," Ms Knafl said.
With only $10 in their pocket, the teams had to get the support of locals as they travelled the country.
The event raised $262,735 dollars for Cure Kids.
