Coronet Peak's snow guns have been fired up for the 2012 season, supplementing the early May snow. It is hoped the ski area will open on schedule on June 9. Photo supplied.
Mr McCrostie said the team of eight to nine snow-making staff "had a good weekend making snow" in the lowered temperatures.
"Our systems are fully automated and turn on when the conditions are right," he said yesterday.
"Our objective is to make enough snow to open and we will do that in any window of opportunity."
The skifield's website listed May 17 as the last snowfall and the average snow base as 17cm.
Coronet's listed opening is June 9 and Mr McCrostie was confident the date would not be pushed back.
