Classroom block undergoes transformation

A double classroom block taken from Queenstown Primary School for ''retrofitting'' before its use at Remarkables Primary School is barely recognisable while builders work to have it ready before term one next year.

The Otago Daily Times earlier reported the relocatable classroom was to manage a roll peak at the Frankton School.

The classrooms were moved across town to land beside Queenstown Airport and the Ministry of Education has applied for consent to place them at Remarkables Primary School when the work is done.

The classrooms are being equipped with a new raised roof, silencer insulation in the walls and new windows.

The consent application said the building was to be compatible with existing buildings at the school and would ''also enhance the functioning and efficiency of the school's operations''.

''Classroom blocks are an essential and anticipated activity at primary school and this proposal fulfils an immediate demand for additional classroom space at Remarkables Primary School,'' the application said.
