A fundraiser for Remarkables Primary School was held on Monday night, with MasterChef judge and soon-to-be Queenstown restaurateur Josh Emett as the main event.

Mr Emett hosted a cooking demonstration attended by more than 90 people at the Queenstown Resort College.

Remarkables Parents Association chairwoman Tracey Pedersen estimated the event raised more than $8000 for Remarkables Primary School.

"Everyone that attended shared an amazing experience and likened it to our very own Remarkables masterclass."

The money raised would be used to buy outdoor education equipment and cultural resources.

The parents association planned to hold two more fundraisers this year.

Mr Emett is due to open Rata, a restaurant in Queenstown, with local restaurateur Fleur Caulton on May 4.
