Head of grooming, Coronet Peak.
Why did you choose it?
I love the mountains and skiing and snowboarding, so working in the ski industry was a natural progression.
Is it your first season in the job?
This is my 11th season for NZSki. I come back because I love it and it's my life.
Where are you from?
Springfield, Canterbury.
What kind of job did you do before you started with NZSki?
I started my work in the ski industry in the rental department then trained as a ski tech. I then got into snow making and finally grooming.
How would you describe your job?
Fun, exciting and always challenging.
What is the best thing about it?
Watching the sunrise, powder nights and first tracks ... product testing of course.
Which challenges comes with the job?
Different snow conditions every night and working night shift.
Which skills or qualities do you need?
Patience and ability to work under pressure.
Who would it appeal to?
Local farmers or contractors who are looking for something to do every winter.
How are you settling in to life in Queenstown?
Love it - skiing in winter, mountain biking in summer ... not a bad life.
What is your best advice to people who move to Queenstown for seasonal work?
Get here early with a bit of cash put aside. Be proactive in finding accommodation straight away.
What has been your most amusing, interesting or surprising experience on the job so far this season?
Nothing yet this season but there will always be something. Watch this space.
