In the final ''Off Piste'' for 2013, Jason Richards (24), originally from Shrewsbury, England, runs us through his job working at the Ice Bar, at the top of the Alta Chairlift.

What's involved in your job?

I work in the Ice Bar at the top of Alta Chairlift, making sure our guests have a good time, getting some drinks and making our famous bacon sandwiches.

What skills or experience do you need?

You have to be able to make a mean bacon sandwich, keep the guests entertained and have to enjoy yourself while you're doing it.

What were you doing before you joined NZSki?

I travelled Thailand for a month and then came to New Zealand to travel with the Kiwi Experience around the North and the South Island before settling-in in Queenstown.

Highs of the job?

The view from up there is absolutely stunning and it's just awesome to provide entertainment to tourists having a good time.

Lows of the job?

Struggling to stand up in high winds. And having the smell of bacon in your nose all day without being able to eat it.

Your most memorable skifield moment?

Our victory in the annual ice hockey match versus Coronet Peak; even though I spent most of the game falling over and lying on the ice.

Best part of living in Queenstown?

Hands down best night life in the world ... and so many amazing people that make it so special.

Worst part of living in Queenstown?

Never being able to save money because there are so many cool things to do around here.

Best piece of advice for people who come here for the season?

Try to score a job with NZSki. You'll never meet a better group of people.
