"I'm afraid of heights... I don't care about the water, I care about the rope breaking," a candid Ms Hobbs (aka Playboy magazine's Miss December 2010) said as she looked over to the A. J. Hackett launch site off the Kawarau River bridge.
Ms Hobbs is travelling with Jordan Monroe (or Miss October 2006) of Iowa, who did decide to try a tandem bungy - even after a 12-hour flight from Los Angeles.
After a few minutes stalling, a "petrified" Ms Monroe (24) eventually jumped - her first reaction upon walking back up the canyon was that she wanted to bungy again "straight away".
Both models are first-time visitors to New Zealand and both are excited about the opportunity.
The jet-lagged journos are in the resort to cover this week's 42Below vodka carnival-themed Cocktail World Cup for Playboy's social media and lifestyle websites.
From Hawaii, Ms Hobbs said it was "amazing, a great experience" to be in the Land of the Long Straight Pour, a country she reckons will share a relaxed vibe, akin to her native Pacific state.
Her brief was twofold - firstly to show other new playmates what is required from the role and secondly to entertain the brand's global fanbase with "hard" news and video uploads from the event, she said.
The cocktail cup features teams from New Zealand, Australia, Scotland, West London, Italy, Europe and the US who will square off for the main prize on Friday night at Lake Hayes.
One of the burning questions among the media huddle who greeted the duo was their relationship status - Ms Monroe is single, Ms Hobbs is not.
However, based on the flawless international reputation of Kiwi men, she will be keeping her eyes unblinkered.
"Every girl can window shop..." she said, a statement that perhaps explains the playmate's donning of designer sunglasses on a not particularly bright Wakatipu day.
