In his fifth Otago Rally this weekend, Alan Garrick — again driving this mid-’90s Toyota Trueno — says he and his fellow Queenstown entrants will enjoy racing each other as well as the rest of the field.

Garrick, whose best result’s third in B class in his first year, 2019, will again have his son Hamish navigating alongside him.

His former neighbour Chris Hogan, whose son Charlie’s his navigator, has returned from Fiji to again tackle the rally in his Suzuki Ignis 1500.

Other locals competing include Adrian Jones, Nigel Ede, Tom Milliken, Caleb MacDonald and co-drivers George Simons and Jamie Donaghy.

The two-day rally, starting Saturday, takes in gravel roads around Otago, many of them inland from Dunedin.
