An improved town and ski area transport system will operate in Queenstown this winter, following a new partnership between NZSki Ltd and Connectabus Queenstown.
NZSki chief executive James Coddington said the new system would deliver "more efficient, user-friendly and affordable access" from Queenstown to Coronet Peak and the Remarkables ski areas.
During the winter season, Connectabus would add the Queenstown Snow Centre as a stop in central Queenstown, running every 15 minutes from 7am until 10am and 3pm to 7pm, to and from designated accommodation providers to the Station.
Connectabus would charge $10 for a multitrip day pass or $30 for a five-day multitrip pass.
Customers going to Coronet Peak would then be able to connect with NZSki buses at the Station - for $10 a person a day return.
Those travelling to the Remarkables - a service departing every 30 minutes - with a valid day and multiday pass or combo pack containing a lift component, would receive free transport when departing from the Queenstown Snow Centre.
Mr Coddington said the partnership was developed to make it as easy and cost effective as possible for skiers and riders, whether they were locals or visitors, to get to Queenstown's slopes.
"Securing new buses, establishing the Snow Centre as our transport hub and integrating our services with Connectabus has effectively enabled us to expand our primary service so customers enjoy more options and an improved service," he said.
Season pass holders could use NZSki's new service for $10 a day or could buy a Queenstown Transport add-on, offering unlimited transport to and from the Queenstown Snow Centre to the Remarkables and Coronet Peak, for $195 for the season.
