Lakes district residents will soon have better access to swimming pools in Queenstown and Wanaka with the introduction of "three pool" pricing by Lakes Leisure Ltd.
Lakes Leisure chief executive Fiona McKissock said under the new structure, Wanaka residents would pay less and gain access to Alpine Aqualand and Arrowtown Memorial Pool with their monthly passes.
Alpine Aqualand members can already use the Arrowtown pool, but they would now be able to swim in the Wanaka Community Pool at no extra cost.
Mrs McKissock said the company wanted to manage "community leisure facilities in a way that maximises community use".
Lakes Leisure General manager Cam Sheppard said the changes would benefit Wanaka swimmers in particular, with savings of up to $160 per year (for a 12-month child pass).
A three-month adult pass for Queenstown Lakes pools costs $104, while a senior or beneficiary pays $78 and a child attending school $39.
A family (two adults and unlimited children living at home) pays $214.50.
Twelve-month passes cost $315 for adults, seniors and beneficiaries $235, children $120 and families $750
