Incredible footage of daredevils in action in some of the world's most remote and beautiful locations is shown in the first three movies announced for this year's Queenstown Adventure Film Festival.
Lost And Found, Play Gravity and Psyche: Patagonian Winter were confirmed as the first of seven internationally acclaimed films to be presented by the festival when it returns to the Queenstown Memorial Hall from July 31.
Lost and Found was shot entirely on 16mm and HiDef by American directors-producers Todd Jones, Dirk Collins, Steve Jones and Corey Gavitt, of production company Teton Gravity Research.
The 22-minute film follows world-class skiers and snowboarders as they chase the snow to the vast Tordrillo Range of Alaska.
The movie was a finalist in the best film on mountain sports category at the 2007 Banff Mountain Film Festival.
Swiss short Play Gravity is a visually spectacular and thrilling film that spotlights the action sports that use all the forces of gravity.
Director-producer Samuel Gyger, of Headrush Films and BVS Production, also gives an insight into the evolving sport of speed-riding during the 23-minute short.
Self-deprecating Brits Andy Kirkpatrick and Ian Parnell are the stars of Psyche: Patagonian Winter, a 31-minute comedic crowd-pleaser from director Alastair Lee, of Posing Productions.
Their attempt at the first winter ascent of Torre Egger won the adventure and people's choice categories at the Kendal Mountain Film Festival 2007.
Psyche: Patagonian Winter was also named best film on mountaineering at the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival 2008 and at the 5 Point Film Festival 2008.
