Artists collaborate to show their methods

Contemporary Queenstown artists will give the public an insight into their work methods when they paint three hanging walls in the new Artbay Gallery, starting tomorrow.

Emerging artists Simon Morrison-Deaker and John Shewry, both of Arthurs Point, will collaborate on the pieces in the Mountaineer building gallery and donate one to Cure Kids.

The other two will be displayed along with 19 paintings in their exhibition.

Mr Shewry said he and Mr Morrison-Deaker had worked in partnership before.

While their mediums were different, shared historical and political themes and a common palette made their works look good together, he said.

"Both artists have managed to capture the essence of their homeland through their individual expressions," Artbay co-owner Pauline Bianchi said.
