Artist Jeri Elliot unveiled the 16 original acrylics on canvas which make up her Colours of Otago show at the winery near Lake Hayes last week.
"I love the rocky landscape of Otago and perhaps my colours are a little more vibrant, but the essence is there," she said.
"My favourite [painting] is called Amisfield, my interpretation of the vineyard and winery. I love terracottas and autumn colours."
Having her painting The Colour of Otago grace the new phone book was "very exciting, out of the blue. The time period between submitting and finding out, you sort of forget about it."
Elliot's pen-and-ink art illustrated the cover of the Queenstown Lakes District Council proposed district plan.
An earlier painting of hers was published on the 1988 Yellow Pages phone book and she was a finalist three more times in the national competition.
Artbay Gallery owner and Amisfield curator Pauline Bianchi's enthusiasm for Elliot's first winery show prompted her to be "flat out" at work on the pieces over the past six months.
The canvases ranged in price from $275 to $1795.
Elliot said she had painted for the past 30 to 40 years and was creative as a child.
Born in New York and raised in Chile and Bahrain, she lived in Saudi Arabia for eight years before moving to New Zealand.
"When I lived in Saudi, women aren't allowed to work. Therefore, I created sets of greeting cards with Arabic themes and a calendar and it spurred the book I wrote called Your Door to Arabia - it sold 14,000 copies."
