A total of 85 resource consents for landing sites applied for by Lakes District scenic flight helicopter companies have been granted by Lakes Environmental so far, taking the number of non-notified helipad consents to 117.
Helicopters Queenstown had 36 consents granted, The Helicopter Line 33, Heliworks 15 and Fat Tyre Adventures had one since the beginning of May.
Lakes Environmental said the 117 figure included sites previously granted before the recent influx of applications.
Planning manager Brian Fitzpatrick said Lakes Environmental was waiting for either more information or affected party approval from applicants before processing other consent applications.
"If the effects are minor, an application has a chance of being non-notified.
If there is anyone we consider directly affected by it, the applicant can provide the necessary affected party approval, then it's another reason why it doesn't have to be notified," Mr Fitzpatrick said.
"If the applicant doesn't come back with approvals, they will have to publicly notify, or they opt to withdraw the application."
Helicopters Queenstown Ltd is permitted to land and take-off from locations including six sites at The Remarkables, four sites on Queenstown Hill, two sites at Coronet Peak and four on the Humboldt Mountains.
