The Queenstown Lakes District Council has received 73 applications for potentially two positions on the Queenstown Airport Corporation board of directors.
In her report to the council yesterday, chief executive Debra Lawson said the applicants came from throughout New Zealand and included some "outstanding candidates".
The council was looking for directors who could bring "key governance skills", including strategic development, internal assurance and financial acumen.
In Ms Lawson's report to the council yesterday, she said a "long list" of candidates was being drawn up for detailed evaluation, with a short-list to be developed for interviews.
The recommendation of the interview panel would be presented in the public-excluded section of September's council meeting.
