Mountains, skiing, the Skyline gondola, jet-boats and the TSS Earnslaw are among favourite things about Queenstown 18 budding artists have drawn, painted, or printed for the Great Bayleys' Art Competition.

Years 7 and 8 pupils from Queenstown Primary, St Joseph's, Glenorchy, Arrowtown and KingsView Schools entered the competition, the second year it has been held.

The pupils were given the theme, "What I love about Queenstown", and told their creations should be suitable for a T-shirt design.

First, second and third placegetters will win Paper Plus vouchers, with the designs to be printed on T-shirts.

The winning pupil's school will receive $3000, with $2000 for the runner-up's school.

The judge is Juliet Collins, of Christchurch, who has taught art in schools for more than 20 years.
