Otago Regional councillors will receive a 3.15% pay increase this year.
The total pool of money allocated to the regional council by the Remuneration Authority was $464,840, up from $450,633 in 2011, also a 3.15% increase.
Councillors were then required to allocate the pool of money as they saw fit.
Council corporate services director Wayne Scott said as the Remuneration Authority had not finalised its review of elected member remuneration, the allocation model decided on by councillors in late 2010 would be retained for the coming year.
The allocation used was a weighting of 1.425 for deputy chairman, 1.25 for committee chairmen, and 1.0 for councillors.
That allocation model was hotly debated by councillors, who were unable to come to a unanimous decision.
From July 2012, the deputy chairman, David Shepherd, will receive $56,302 ($54,582), standing committee chairmen Gretchen Robertson, Duncan Butcher, Michael Deaker and Bryan Scott $49,388 ($47,879) and councillors $39,510 ($38,303).
The chairman's allocation had not changed for three years, staying at $112,326. Chairman Stephen Woodhead had elected to have a council vehicle supplied, reducing his salary.
Councillors did not comment on the figures when the information was presented at a recent finance and corporate meeting.
