Stronger Waitaki and Family Works are holding a free community event hosted by Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fenz) this weekend with tips on how best to keep houses warm and dry in winter.

The Waitaki Housing Expo will be held at the Oamaru Fire Station from 1pm-4pm on Sunday and will feature fun family activities, including the Network Waitaki bucket truck rides and a free sausage sizzle.

Stronger Waitaki representative Kayla Stewart said they were excited to connect with the community to share valuable housing resources and to bring together amazing local service providers, all in one place.

Family Works team leader Louisa Beaumont said times were tough for people and they were excited to have EnergyMate coaches on hand at the event.

"They will share tips and tricks to help keep your power bill down while still staying warm.

"We can also book people in for a personalised in-home visit, where we can make sure people are on the right power plan, for example," she said.
