Thrilled to get their hands on the Women's Rugby World Cup are (from left) Taliyah Mathewson (11), of Weston, Evie Wilson (11), of Weston, Dunedin-raised Black Fern Victoria Subritzky-Nafatali, Ruby Perkins (17), of Oamaru, and Shania Kohinga (17), of Oamaru.
Finishing her tour of the Highlanders region yesterday in Oamaru, at Waitaki Girls' High School, Subritzky-Nafatali said her eyes were opened to how big the game had become for New Zealand girls. Her tour of schools from Invercargill to Oamaru ''exposed me to how big it's really growing'' and allowed her to watch the girls' reaction to seeing the Women's Rugby World Cup up close.
''We always see the stats,'' she said.
''But we don't actually see it.
''For me, it's just been awesome, seeing girls fizz over the cup. Little things like that make me love what I do.''
