The truck and car were both heading east about 4.30pm.
The truck was turning into a private driveway, when the car came over a rise and skidded for about 50m before hitting the rear of the truck.
Three Oamaru teenagers were in the car.
The male driver, who had head injuries, and the female rear-seat passenger, who had neck injuries, were taken by ambulance to the emergency department at Oamaru Hospital.
The male front-seat passenger was not injured.
