The Dunedin Silver Fern railcar has 65 bookings so far for tomorrow's excursion from Dunedin to Oamaru and back, with a stop in Palmerston.
Taieri Gorge Railway chief operating officer Murray Bond said most passengers on the excursion railcar were getting on in Dunedin.
A trip from Oamaru to Palmerston and back in the middle of the day had 45 bookings so far for the 94-seat railcar, but both were expected to fill up by tomorrow, he said.
A successful excursion would lead to further trips, possibly including basing the railcar in Oamaru for a few days and running daily trips to Dunedin, Mr Bond said.
