The Alliance Group's Pukeuri plant manager, Danny Hailes, has been appointed the company's general manager commercial.
Mr Hailes will start work in January in the new position, which is based at the company's corporate office in Invercargill.
He has managed the Pukeuri plant for the past six years.
With a law degree from the University of Otago, Mr Hailes worked in private practice before joining Alliance in 1993.
He was legal counsel for the meat company, before moving to Dannevirke in 2003 to manage a new Alliance plant and then on to Pukeuri.
When contacted yesterday, Mr Hailes said he had mixed feelings about leaving.
While he was excited about a new challenge, he had really enjoyed his time at the plant and also living in Oamaru.
The new job was an opportunity to get involved in some wider aspects of the company's business, he said.
