The "wheel man'' of Oamaru, David Wilson, brought a touch of olde worlde eccentricity to Presbyterian Support Otago's Elmslie House, Home and Hospital in Wanaka yesterday, and also provided manager Nina Lunn with a few uncertain moments in the saddle of his penny-farthing.
Mr Wilson regaled residents with tales of his 2011 Bluff to Cape Reinga ride on his penny-farthing "Pioneer Spirit'', which is destined, eventually, for a place in New Zealand's Sports Hall of Fame, in Dunedin.
