The council's committee of the whole yesterday considered a report on annual pay after the Remuneration Authority decided on the size of the "pool" for Waitaki's elected members.
Apart from the mayor, the authority each year sets a total pool from which all other councillors and community board members are paid. This year the new pool, without the mayor's remuneration, is $242,159, only $131 more than the present pool.
The committee has recommended the council make changes, a decision which will be made on May 15, or may have to be settled by the authority if there is not unanimous agreement.
Under the proposal, based on the Remuneration Authority's recommendation, Mr Familton's salary would rise by $3100, from $80,800 now to $83,900.
But increases for other council members are small - deputy mayor Jim Hopkins' salary by $13 to $25,199, executive committee councillors by $12 to $25,512, councillors on water management zone committees by $11 to $20,282 and all other councillors by $10 to $18,439.
The Ahuriri and Waihemo Community Boards chairmen's remuneration would increase $8 to $13,522, and board members' pay by $3 to $6146.
Councillors passed the recommendation yesterday with little discussion, partly because the extra they had to deal with was only $131.
The recommended remuneration is based on ratios previously determined by the council which set how the indicative pool was to be paid out.
