The Boer War and World War 1 monuments have the names of those who lost their lives in those wars but the World War 2 Garden of Memories, on the corner of Severn and Itchen Sts, did not.
The Rotary Club of Waitaki decided to get the names carved into plaques, which have been mounted on the pillars of the entrance gate, in time for Anzac Day.
The gate has also been restored.
Names were researched by club member Lindsay Malcolm from World War 2 monuments throughout the district, archives and a list prepared for the dedication of the Garden of Memories in 1953.
Lists had also been available for members of the public to check.
Yesterday, club president Graham Clark said the project had generated much public interest. Families of those who died in the war were very pleased.
Wreaths will be laid at the gate on Anzac Day by Meem Saxton and John Bean, whose fathers were killed in the war.
The project cost close to $7000, Mr Clark said.
