Eight immaculately-presented Model A Ford cars turned heads in Oamaru yesterday.

The Model A enthusiasts gathered outside Whisky, in Oamaru's historic precinct, for a photograph.

The Model A owners decided to visit Oamaru for the day, leaving at 9.30am, with the trip north taking about an hour and forty-five minutes.

They had lunch at Riverstone Kitchen, on the Waitaki Plains, before heading home later in the afternoon.

One of the owners, Julian Smith, who is the managing director of Allied Press, publisher of the Otago Daily Times, said the cars had an average age of about 80 years but still "performed well".
