Options to ensure access to Moeraki village via Haven St are being considered by the Waitaki District Council and the Waihemo Community Board.
The assessment of the landslip problem on Haven St by GHD consultants was described as a "good positive move" by the Waihemo Community Board chairman Rod Philip.
The possible solutions identified include deep drainage of the Haven St landslip through horizontal drilled drains, counterfort drains or column drains, protection of the toe landslip through rip rap armouring and control surface run off away from the landslip area.
One or more than one solution might be required, Waitaki District Council asset manager, roads, Gary Woock said in a report to the Waihemo Community Board.
The Waitaki District Council had earlier looked at the option of access to Moeraki along the hill top via Tenby St.
It became "quite apparent" that the Tenby St option was not favoured by the community, Mr Woock said.
Road access into Moeraki via Haven St has been subject to land instability issues extending to last century.
