A fire investigator was yesterday at the scene of a house that went up in flames in Hampden on Saturday night.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said crews from Weston, Palmerston and Hampden were called to the blaze on the corner of State Highway 1 and Norwich St in Hampden just before 8pm.

The single-storey 150sq m wooden house was ''fully involved'' when the first crew arrived, the spokesman said.

The fire was not being treated as suspicious, he said.
