Firefighters were called out to a digger on fire at Weston, near Oamaru, earlier today.
A Fire and Emergency spokeswoman said the Weston Volunteer Fire Brigade was called to the fire about 11.55am.
On arrival the blaze was "well-involved", she said.
The digger was "on gravel" and it appeared there was no threat to buildings or nearby vegetation.
About 12.30pm crews remained on scene extinguishing the fire.
